Why I’m Doing This

Nomad Santa isn’t just a storytelling project—it’s a way to support ABLE Radio LAB. All proceeds from this blog, the Substack, the merch, and anything I create under the Nomad Santa banner go directly to support ABLE Radio Lab, a program built through a nonprofit called KDSTR Radio Corporation. It all started years 30 years ago with Kidstar, a project that put radio stations in schools, jails, and tribal communities—teaching kids how to speak up, tell stories, and find their voice. After our founder, Perry Damone, passed away, the program was adapted the program for adults with developmental disabilities and was used in day programs for years. That’s how ABLE Radio Lab was born: a podcast platform where every voice is welcome, especially those society too often leaves out. Supporting Nomad Santa helps keep those voices on the air—and reminds us that in this small world, we’re all neighbors.
